Cañón San Cristobal
Aibonito
Located between Barranquitas and Aibonito, Cañón San Cristóbal is one of the most significant geological formations in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. It is a natural area with trails, overlooks, waterfalls and rich biodiversity. Well suited for birdwatching, hiking and photography.
It was used as a landfill for two decades until a 1960 community campaign promoted protection of the canyon and succeeded in halting the dumping of waste in the area.
The canyon is home to El Ancón, one of the tallest waterfalls in Puerto Rico.
