MENSHO is a Japanese ramen concept founded by chef Tomoharu Shono in Tokyo in 2005. The brand has restaurants in several international markets and is known for its broths, house-made noodles and carefully sourced ingredients, with an approach that takes ramen beyond its traditional form.
Its San Francisco location, which opened in 2016, has appeared in the Michelin Guide since 2017, for nine consecutive years through 2025. For the Puerto Rico opening, members of MENSHO's culinary team traveled from Japan to work directly with the local team.
Its arrival on the Island began with a recommendation. A Puerto Rican entrepreneur who wanted to bring a quality ramen concept to Puerto Rico included MENSHO in his culinary research tour, on the suggestion of a friend who had visited the San Francisco location nearly every Sunday for almost five years. That visit became an international collaboration.
