Known locally as Marbella, Puerto Nuevo beach is considered one of the better public beaches for swimmers because of its Bandera Azul status in 2018, 2023 and 2026. That designation means its waters have been internationally recognized for meeting sustainability and environmental responsibility requirements.
The public beach has lifeguards, restrooms, showers, aquatic wheelchairs for people with disabilities (with prior coordination) and a beach volleyball court. Near the shore there is a sandbar pool that locals call Mar Muerto.
