Throughout 2025, we have been asking the PlateaPR community on Facebook about their favorite dishes. Which mofongo wins them over, where to find the best steak on the Island, which chinchorro (a casual roadside food and drink spot) never disappoints, and much more.
Across all the questions, we collected about 2,000 responses, building a collective record of the places the community says you need to know.
Those comments helped us produce, throughout the year, a recurring series of articles titled The best… according to the Platea community, all based on the responses gathered.
Nominee selection
We chose 10 categories that generated the most interest from the audience (based on the number of comments received): hamburgers, mofongo, quesitos, lechón, bistec, mallorca, tostones, honey pepperoni, pan sobao and chinchorro.
We counted how many times each establishment was mentioned, and the most-named ones in each category advanced to the final vote. The Top de la Comunidad de Platea are exactly that: what the community is eating and recommending right now.
Voting
People can vote for their favorite in each category, one vote per category, from Nov. 10 through Nov. 17. If they are not familiar with the nominated businesses or cannot find their favorite in a category, they can skip to the next category and continue voting. After casting their vote, they can share the survey with others to encourage them to vote.
In the weeks following the close of voting, we will reveal the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category on the vota.plateapr.com page, our website plateapr.com and all our social media channels Instagram, Facebook and TikTok (@plateapr).
