The Summ: Student Experience Summit, the student fair that launched three years ago to help young people decide on their college and professional futures, returns with new topics on FAFSA preparation and the participation of various educational institutions from Puerto Rico and the United States.

The event will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, and Friday, Sept. 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Centro de Convenciones de Puerto Rico.

This will be "an invaluable opportunity for students to immerse themselves in experiences that reflect professional reality.

"Our commitment is to inspire and guide young people, giving them the tools and connections they need to make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures," said Stephanie Pérez, co-producer of the event.

What will you find?

Students who attend the event can take part in exhibits, interactive pavilions and simultaneous workshops, and receive product samples. They will also be able to have immersive experiences and explore spaces that simulate real work environments.

All of the experiences have been designed with the goal of giving students tools to envision themselves in their professional futures and gain a concrete sense of what awaits them, allowing them to make informed decisions about their careers.

Preparation for applying for financial aid

If the financial aid application gives you headaches at college enrollment time, you might benefit from a new initiative the event is introducing this year: guidance on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, known as FAFSA.

Through the initiative Preparados para la FAFSA: Todo lo que los Padres necesitan saber, a detailed, practical guide will be provided to help parents manage and maximize financial aid for their children's college education.

Students will also have the opportunity to complete their admissions process at the booth of their preferred university.

  • In addition, the HETS Student Leadership Showcase will promote access to free online student services, supporting academic goals through lectures and presentations of innovative projects.

  • This year also adds the panel Educational Forecast: Innovación y Relevancia de la Educación Formal, in which the presidents of the country's leading academic institutions will share their vision for the future of education, highlighting the importance of innovation and the continued relevance of formal education in a world that remains in constant evolution.

Job fair and networking

In this third edition, other new initiatives will be presented, including the Job Fair Corner. This will be a space that functions as a job fair where students can look for information about internship opportunities and enter the workforce.

Success stories will also be part of the event. The Mentors Talks will be designated areas where students can hear testimonials from professionals in different industries, draw inspiration, connect and network.

An event for schools, students and parents

The Summ: Student Experience Summit is an event designed for high school students and young people looking to enter college. Schools, students, parents and interested individuals are all welcome.

"Over the past two years we have had excellent attendance from students at both public and private schools. We already have confirmed participation from 18 educational institutions in Puerto Rico and three from the United States, which will give attendees a wide range of options to consider," said Jonnathan Falcón, co-producer of the event.
