What's happening? More than 100 artists will take to the streets of Old San Juan, turning it into the stage for the eleventh edition of Circo Fest 2026 on March 14 and 15. With more than 70 shows per day from about 25 local companies and eight international ones, the circus arts festival is the largest in Puerto Rico and one of the most prominent in the Caribbean.
Circo Fest, developed by Asociación ACirc since 2014, is free, but attendees can leave donations "a la gorra."
It promises a variety of artistic performances taking place simultaneously on nine different stages, including aerial acrobatics, juggling, clowns, theater, dance, fire and much more.
"When we started, (Circo Fest) was something raw, very green. And right now, 11 years later, we already have artists who have been able to go to schools (of art and circus) outside the island and have developed. We have managed to build up, to develop locally, and also artists who are (creating) from a Puerto Rican identity."

Did you know…? Circo Fest runs for 11 days, from March 12 to 22. That is because the first two days (March 12 and 13) are dedicated to the festival's educational commitment: offering free workshops alongside international artists to support and develop the next generation of circus artists on the Island.
The workshops will be open to the general public. Participants who are not members of Asociación ACirc will need to pay a fee of $25 to cover insurance costs. For more information or to reserve your spot, contact acircpr@gmail.com.
And it doesn't end there: the circus festival moves to four municipalities to bring street art and workshops to communities in Culebra (March 18), Dorado (March 21), Barceloneta (March 22) and another on March 20 that has not yet been confirmed.
"Over the years we have managed to transform the festival into a phenomenon within the international street art festival format, because (Circo Fest) is a festival that blends with the convention concept: workshops are offered and we have a tour of the Island," Rivas added.
Vote for your favorite company. The audience will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred local artist or company during the event in Old San Juan. The winner will receive $300 and an artistic residency at El Bastión. The jury's champion will take home $700 and an artistic residency.
There will also be a photography contest where participants can submit up to 10 photos; the winner will receive $250 and the opportunity to exhibit at El Bastión alongside the semifinalists.

👪 Activities for children and young people
In addition to the artistic programming, there will be face-painting stations for children and young people at the Jardín Paseo de Ballajá (8 – Cuartel Ballajá area on the map), at the Museo de las Américas and at the Plaza San José.
Artisans will be set up at the Cuartel de Ballajá and at the Plaza de la Beneficencia, which is also a recreational area for all visitors to enjoy.
The Liga de Arte de San Juan is also joining Circo Fest to offer free three-hour workshops, open to the general public, on Dr. Francisco Rufino de Goenaga Street. They include a skateboard printmaking course, where participants will use their body weight on a skate to create designs, a body painting class with removable paint tattoos, and a keychain-making workshop.
